Last year when my plan to visit Pakke Tiger Reserve got cancelled , I really bad, as this place was in my long pending list of places to visit. Hence, this time made sure that nothing came in between me and Pakke..:-)
I flew down to Guwahati in my favorite airline Indigo. Its a long non stop flight. Captain was waiting for me at the airport with vehicle which was to drive us to Pakke. It was long eight hours drive.
We stopped midway and was surprised that I could get Hot Hot Masala Dosa to eat for my lunch..:-)
The road till Balipara is excellent. However, the last 20 km or so before is truly back breaking. Worst it was pitch dark when we reached the Arunachal Border, we were stopped as to how come we are reaching so late..Someone who was fully loaded with the local ale, let us drive in after asking too many , most of it irrelevant questions.
We reached the Takum Nabum's house who is the Chairman of Ghora Aabhe Society ,which is a council of 14 village headmen, who have set up the Pakke Jungle Camp with the help of Help Tourism for visitors in an effort to generate revenue from their conservation efforts that could go towards funding community initiatives. He accompanied us to the camp. soft-spoken and down to earth with vision for the park and the tribe ( Nyishi), he introduced us to Mr.Suresh, who was anxiously waiting for us at the camp.
